Unexplained Dizziness

So, in what seems to be a summertime ritual for me, I am again suffering from a case of what I lovingly refer to as “the dizzies”. Every summer, I end up with a horrible bout of what doctors refer to as vertigo. None of them can offer any explanation, nor does there seem to be any decent treatment except motion sickness medicine, which does not seem to affect my dizzies at all.

Today, I was lifting my little five-pound weights when it struck. I was lying on my back doing a chest fly when I felt a bit woozy. As soon as I sat up, I knew I was in trouble. The world started spinning counter-clockwise and I wanted to throw up. I sat curled in the corner of the couch for a good 10 minutes before I made the decision that I had to work from home; because as soon as I tried to walk, I staggered around like a drunken sailor on the stormy seas. There was no way I could make it through a day in the office without people asking me what was wrong and really, how do you explain – I pulled something in my brain?

I’ve had an MRI when this first happened and my doctor was concerned I might have something serious since they couldn’t quite figure out why I was dizzy. As the doctor said, there’s nothing up there. Oddly, I get a feeling in the back part of my skull like someone hit me on the head with something. And there is crazy pressure in my sinuses.

I really wish I knew what the cause of this was because I would do everything in my power to not experience this. I can handle getting skin cancer cut out of my leg a hell of a lot better than I can handle this nausea and dizziness.
