I was trying to answer a message sent to me by a reader and as I was poking around here to find a post that I had written a few years ago, I realized that I was sitting on 249 posts. I figured I would use my 250th post to thank you for reading this little ramble-fest of mine and hope that I managed to provide something useful in your life, whether it was information about what the hell is amelanotic melanoma and what to expect from the excision; reading about my travel (mis)adventures; or just laughing at what an idiot I am and thinking that you’ve read better writing coming out of kindergarten classes.

When I first started the blog, I really didn’t think anyone else would even find it, let alone spend time reading it. Basically, I expected it to be my MySpace page 2.0 (do the kids even know what MySpace is anymore?). But getting a melanoma diagnosis is scary and there are times when you feel all alone in this fight. I started blogging because writing is a cathartic exercise for me. As evidenced by me trying to speak to other humans, sometimes I’m eloquent and sometimes I’m an incoherent mess (ahem, Orlando after an Adam Ant show). But writing has helped me put all of this stuff flying around in my head down on paper (or pixels as the case may be). I’m humbled by the comments and emails sent to me by people who somehow connected with my words. I’m in awe of the strength and dignity shown by people who are dealing with far worse outcomes than I have, yet still thank me for this blog. And I’m grateful to have the chance to try to be somewhat helpful to others.

Thanks…
