For those of us living in Austin right now, it’s mayhem. It’s Spring Break for the kids (public schools and UT), the Rodeo, and the mother of all city festivals – SXSW. If you don’t know what SXSW is, picture 200,000 people invading your town with a bunch of tents, food trucks, random parties taking over all kinds of buildings, various celeb sightings, concerts, drinking, and rowdiness. It’s fun as hell, as long as you don’t really try to sleep or go to work or do anything normal people do for almost two weeks.
Over the weekend, I had a minor surgical procedure and was knocked out all day on Friday. Yesterday, I was feeling good enough to want to head out and see a favorite local band playing close by. I popped some Advil and headed out the door. I was even smart and wore cute little tennis shoes to the show.
Well, the music was awesome and I spent lots of time dancing around, occasional head banging, and standing around after the concert trying to tell the band members how great the show was.
This morning, I woke up with some stiffness and aches. And my freaking scar area is hurting again. I’m going to be doing a lot of walking around in the next week or so. I’m going to have to figure out what to do to either ignore this or get it to feel better. It can’t ache for an entire week, especially when I’m already taking a bunch of pain relievers.
SXSW is one of those events that locals either love or hate. Since it’s my first time living downtown during SXSW, I want to try to take advantage of all the craziness and fun available. Scar aches, be damned. I’m going to have fun, even if it means that I’m not going to feel the greatest the next day. At least wine helps ;o)
