Currently sitting in a hotel just south of Jacksonville and since I finally got done doing a super-critical, last-minute work document, I figured I would recap my last couple of days in Florida for what I’m billing as my midlife crisis concert tour – for no other reason than I have the laptop fired up and I need to create… Read more »
I’m back in Austin. Actually, I got home late Monday night but as soon as I got up on Tuesday morning, I’ve been running with work, a follow-up visit with the doctor, and a suddenly active social life… Since I like to relive my travels, y’all are going to have to listen to me recount my week in London before… Read more »
I realized that I never followed up from my previous paranoid post. I did go to the doctor, who looked at the growing red thing on my leg and wasn’t sure exactly what it was; but she thought it might be some kind of dermatitis, or worst case, maybe basal cell carcinoma. She gave me a prescription for a steroid… Read more »
Thursday morning, I woke up earlier than I needed to and probably still under the influence of a boatload of rosado. I repacked as quickly as I could, grabbed a shower and woke up the hubby. Previously, there had been some issues getting through security at the Barcelona Airport because there were work slowdowns by the security forces in the… Read more »
Our train from Tarragona to Barcelona was on a RENFE Regional train, meaning it was a one-class train with no assigned seating. The leg room was tight and there was no dedicated luggage racks in the cars other than the ones overhead. But the price was cheap – less than 8 Euros each for the roughly hour and a half… Read more »
After a wonderful two days in Valencia, it was time to grab a train to our next stop, Tarragona. Our Talgo train pulled out of the old world Estacio del Nord, heading north along the coastline. My hubby grumbled that each successive train we were taking were getting more and more dilapidated but I told him he was just spoiled… Read more »
Wednesday, we woke up and had to pack up to head to the Girona train station. We had to take an AVE train back to Barcelona Sants before picking up our next train to head south to Valencia. The walk back to the train station went much quicker since we knew where we were going. The train was again fast,… Read more »
We waited in line for about 30 minutes for passport control before they turned us loose to start our vacation. After spending quite a bit of time on RENFE’s website before we embarked on this adventure, I realized that the footloose days of just jumping on a train were in my golden-tinged youth. Sadly, to get the best price on… Read more »
Well, I’m back from my trip to Spain, or should I call it Catalunya since most of my trip was within the region that has been a bit restless under Madrid’s control. I’m not well-versed enough to even dive into that discussion, so don’t even ask what I think about it because really – I don’t even know enough to… Read more »
So, I’m heading off on another adventure today. I’m sure you can tell based on the title of the post where I’m off to. I had visited Spain and Portugal a long time ago when I was in my late 20s for a “I-just-quit-my-job-and-before-I-start-the-next-one” break. (I used to do that a lot – travel somewhere in my break between quitting… Read more »
